Cam Newton created a bit of a stir in the water-sports community when an image of him playing water polo appeared on Instagram on Monday.

The NFL MVP was shooting an episode last Wednesday of his upcoming Nickelodeon series “All in with Cam Newton” at USA Water Polo facilities in Los Alamitos, Calif.

More information on the episode is expected to be released before it’s slated to air later this year.

This isn’t the first time Newton has been associated with an Olympic sport.

He met Usain Bolt at last year’s Super Bowl and discussed it while preparing for this year’s Super Bowl.

Cam Newton cracked a smile Wednesday when a reporter asked, “a lot of people in the Caribbean are saying that you are to the NFL what Usain Bolt is to the Olympics, how do you feel about that?”

“He’s a cool guy, real cool, internationally cool,” Newton responded, raising his eyebrows. “I’m just locally cool. Usain, he is Jamaica.”

Newton, who will lead the Carolina Panthers against the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl 50 on Sunday, met Bolt at last year’s Super Bowl. Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning was also there for a group Gatorade photo with superstars across several sports.
