Croatian brothers, Poland, Switzerland claim Olympic rowing golds

The second half of six Thursday medals in rowing have been decided, with three new nations claiming honors.

Croatia’s Sinkovic brothers, Valent and Martin, held off Lithuania and Norway to win men’s double sculls. The world record holders didn’t touch their mark, but won with a 6:50.28.

On the women’s side, it was Poland on top with a time of 7:40.10 posted by Magdalena Fularczyk-Kozlowska and Natalia Madaj. Great Britain claimed silver ahead of bronze winners Lithuania.

The Swiss men’s quartet of Lucas Tramer, Simon Schuerch, Simon Niepmann, and Mario Gyr took gold in lightweight men’s four, booking a time of 6:20.51. Denmark and France took silver and bronze, respectively.
